The Ice & Fire mod is a fantasy type mod. It is played like regular Minecraft except that there are now creatures of legend lurking around. The mod does not drastically change the way you interact with Minecraft unless you choose to do certain things. Which if you installed this mod by itself and not part of a modpack you are sure to do. Be careful as this mod can cause lag even by itslef due to the entities that it adds. This mod also needs another mod to be able to function called citadel. Whithout the citadel mod it will not work.
The Ice & Fire mod add many different creatures of legend. It also adds new blocks and armor to the game. One of the main reasons for the popularity of this mod is because it adds dragons. While Minecraft may already have a dragon in the form of Jean the ender dragon, these dragons are a lot more powerful. There are 3 types of dragons, Ice, Fire and Lightning. Each of these dragons have 5 differant stages. Stage 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. After every stage a dragon grows bigger in size and strength. Each type of dragon has its own elemental attack and 4 color carients. The mod adds other creatures of legend and myth such as Medusa, cyclopses, hippogryphs and mermaids. Also some orginal creatures such as the myrmex. The myrmex are ant like creatures that live in holes within the ground and attack you if you get close.
While the Ice & Fire mod may not have a set goal to complete, many consider the end goal to be obtaining a stage 5 drgaon and the best set of gear the game has. To get a dragon you have to defeat a stage 5 female and hope it drops an egg. The egg will always be the same type of dragon as the mother, it can however be a differant color. A differant method is used to hatch each type of dragon. For ice yo need to submerge the egg in water until it freezes and wait for it to hatch. A fire dragon egg needs to be set on fire for it to hatch. Lightning dragons are the most difficult to hatch. A lightning dragon egg needs to be outside during a thunderstom to hatch. With the other types it is simple to simply light an egg on fire or put it into some water, but waiting for a storm can take time. Once you get your dragon to be hatched you now need your dragon to get to stage 5. Dragons grow up 1 day for every in game day that passes. You can fly around on a dragon at stage 3. A dragon reaches stage 5 on day 100 and is fully grown on day 125. To get the best armor you need a dragon forge and dragon blood. You can make a dragon forge using dragon stone blocks. You get the blocks by crafting together the scales of the dragons you have killed together. The blood of the dragons can only be gotten after killing a dragon and harvesting its blood with a bottle. The weapons of each dragon type have different affects when used.
